The New York Yankees hired former Chicago Cubs general manager Jim Hendry has a special assignment scout under general manager Brian Cashman on Tuesday.
Hendry worked 17 years in the Cubs organization, wearing a variety of hats -- ranging from general manager from 2002-11 to farm director. He was fired as general manager in August by Chicago chairman Tom Ricketts.
The 56-year-old Hendry agreed to a multi-year deal with the Yankees, ESPN Chicago reported, citing a source.
