Start of the 2016 high school football season resumes Friday

Area games feature 2 top 10 matchups, one versus top team in state

SAN ANTONIO – High school football kicks off in a big way on Friday with a full slate of games and includes two area top 10 matchups.

Today, area No. 2 Judson takes on state No. 1 Lake Travis in Austin in a big time game, and area No 4. Reagan High School plays area No. 8 Brennan High School, while area No. 7 Kerrville Tivy plays area no. 9 Stevens, both in games involving ranked teams.

Thursday night the Gucci Bowl started things off and Churchill High School won for the 7th straight time over their rival Clark High School 33-14, in the 36th addition of the ballgame.

In other Thursday games, McCollum beat South San 41-27 and Holy Cross defeated Lanier 33-0 and Natalia beat John Paul II 35-19.
