SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Led by a swarming defense, the Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10 on Sunday night to win Super Bowl 50.
Denver opened the scoring in the first quarter with a Brandon McManus 34-yard field goal to give the Broncos a 3-0 lead.

Later in the quarter, the Broncos increased their lead to 10-0, when Malik Jackson recovered a Cam Newton fumble in the end zone, coupled with a McManus extra point.
The Panthers responded early in the second quarter, when Jonathan Stewart scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run. Graham Gano kicked the extra point to reduce Denver's lead to 10-7.
McManus connected on a 34-yard field goal to give Denver a 13-7 lead at the half. He added a 30-yard field goal to provide the only scoring in the third quarter and increase the Broncos' lead to 16-7.
Gano hit a 39-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to make it 16-10.
Following a Newton fumble recovered by Denver deep in Panther territory, the Broncos finished the scoring with a C.J. Anderson 2-yard run and a 2-point conversion from Peyton Manning to Bennie Fowler to make it 24-10.
The game was probably the last for Manning, who is expected to retire following a Hall of Fame career.
