SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs announced starting center Pau Gasol fractured his left hand during warmups before the Spurs game against Denver Thursday night at the AT&T Center.

The official release from the Spurs says X-rays taken at the AT&T Center show a fracture of Gasol’s left fourth metacarpal.

The Spurs said a timeline for Gasol’s return would be announced at a later date, but Kawhi Leonard suffered the same injury in 2014 and missed about a month of the regular season.

Gasol was a late scratch for the Nuggets game and David Lee took his place in the starting lineup.

Gasol is averaging 11.7 points and nearly eight rebounds per game in his first season with the Spurs.
