SAN ANTONIO – Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry called out San Antonio Spurs center Dewayne Dedmon for engaging in a screen in what he called as a “dirty play.”

Video of the controversial late fourth quarter play between Dedmon and Curry surfaced on social media, with many calling it a “cheap shot” on the Warriors star point guard.

According to ESPN, Curry didn’t realize how extreme the screen was until he saw the replay the next morning.

"I know he's not a dirty player,” Curry said, via ESPN’s Chris Haynes.  “I'm not going to try to mess up his reputation, but I feel like that was a dirty play. Luckily no one was hurt."

The questionable play occurred with less than five minutes left in the fourth quarter as the Warriors were leading the Spurs 115 to 98.

Dedmon came from behind to set a pick on Curry near the baseline for Spurs rookie guard Dejounte Murray while appearing to knee the Warriors star before knocking him to the ground to continue the play.

No foul was called, and the play resulted in Dedmon scoring a hook shot under the basket off a rebounded missed 3-pointer.

Acting Warriors head coach Mike Brown said he was unsure about the play when it happened during the game, but after reviewing it the next day, it was clear the refs missed a call.

“I thought it was an illegal screen," Brown said to ESPN. "When it happened live, I was not sure, but when you look at the film, it was an illegal pick. Sometimes the officials make the call, and sometimes they don't."

This year’s Western Conference Finals have come with a series of controversial plays between the two teams, leaving players under a microscope on each play.
