SAN ANTONIO – For the second time in his career, Dallas Cowboys starting wide receiver Terrance Williams visited Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph Air Force Base to host a youth football camp for about 150 military children.

The two-day youth camp combines teaching football skills with health and wellness for the military children.

It also provides the chance to celebrate and honor the children and their families while bringing the military community together.

“I look at it as a ‘Thank You’ for the sacrifices their parents’ make (even though) my job is different from what their parents do, we all work on a team,” Williams said.
“And I just think that you learn the best by having fun things while teaching fundamental skills too.”

Williams, who’s in his fourth year as Cowboy, hosted the first youth camp at JBSA-Randolph AFB in the summer of 2015.

Williams said the San Antonio camp two years ago was one of the first times he’s ever hosted an event and enjoyed helping the kids so much, it was a no-brainer to travel the 300 miles south of Dallas for this year’s camp at JBSA-Randolph.

“The first time I came out here it was my first experience in these types of camps but some of these kids I’ve met already and known them from the first (camp). Coming back out here, I’m more relaxed and more comfortable to have a good time and be myself,” Williams said.

Children from grades first through eighth are not only being taught the fundamental football skills from Williams and the local coaches who volunteered for the camp but also learning the importance of living an active and healthy lifestyle.

“I think it’s simple stuff that you can breakdown for them (children) in not just talking about it, but showing them too,” Williams said.

Williams is set to build off his commitment to health and wellness by getting prepared for Dallas Cowboys training camp when the team arrives in Oxnard, California, on July 22, 2017, in preparation for this year’s NFL season.
