Heisman Trophy winning running back Ricky Williams has agreed to work with running backs at the University of Incarnate Word starting this season.
Williams won the Heisman Trophy as the best player in college football in 1998 after breaking the NCAA career rushing record against rival Texas A&M in November 1998 when he ran for 259 yards finishing his college career with 6, 279 yards rushing.
According to UT sports information director John Bianco, Williams has agreed to work with running backs at UIW on his days off while still living in Austin.
This is a major addition to the staff of UIW given the fact the Cardinals will be starting competition in NCAA Division I this season as a member of the Southland Conference.
The story was first reported by CoachingSearch.com after Williams made an appearance in San Antonio on July 10 to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the game between the San Antonio Missions and Midland RockHounds.
