Smithson Valley head coach gives speech to opposing team

Larry Hill gives praise to opposing team the Rangers just defeated

SAN ANTONIO – Minutes after Smithson Valley defeated the Harlingen Cardinals, 35-20, Rangers head coach Larry Hill gave a speech to the young men in the Cardinals locker room.

In a sign of respect, class and admiration Hill praised the players and coaches. He said they had the respect of all the Rangers they competed against.

He reminded them not to focus on the loss but to “dwell on the journey that got y’all in the third round (of the playoffs).”

The video posted on the Cardinals Facebook page on Saturday and racked up more than 75,000 views within hours of its posting.

Smithson Valley plays another Class-6A football powerhouse the Judson Rockets next Saturday.
