TCU comes back to defeat Oregon in triple OT

SAN ANTONIO – Before a sell-out crowd of more than 64,000 people TCU defeated Oregon, 47-41. Bram Kohlhausen's 8-yard touchdown run in the third overtime carried No. 11 TCU to a wild 47-41 victory over No. 15 Oregon in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday night as the Horned Frogs stormed back from a 31-0 halftime deficit behind a backup quarterback.

The 31-point comeback to win tied the record for a bowl game, matching Texas Tech in the 2006 Insight Bowl against Minnesota in 2006.

Metaphorically speaking, it was a game of two different teams; in the first half the Ducks looked unstoppable. However the momentum swung in favor of the Horned Frogs in the second half.

Oregon came out on fire, scoring 21 points in the first quarter. That tied an Alamo Bowl record with Baylor for most points scored in the first quarter.

TCU got blanked in the first half, trailing Oregon, 31-0.

The Horned Frogs scored first in the third quarter, by capping off a 10-play drive with a 24-yard field goal by Jaden Oberkrom.

That was the beginning of 17 unanswered points in the third quarter by TCU.

The theme continued in the fourth quarter when TCU tied the game with less a minute left in the game.

Kohlhausen started in place of TCU's Trevone Boykin, who was suspended after a bar fight two days earlier. Kohlhausen passed for 351 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores.

This year’s sell-out crowd was the fourth in the last five years, according to bowl officials.
