It's the moment Texans fans have waited so long for and when the team hosts the Dolphins Saturday in their first pre-season home game, something incredible awaits them.
A brand new giant high definition video board, now the world's largest.
The video board is six times larger than the old board at Reliant and bigger than what hangs in Cowboy's stadium in Dallas. The new video board is 277 feet long by 52 feet tall, and costs $16.5 million.
"We've earned a reputation for being responsive to what our fans have to say and that's the only way to run an enterprise which is really a community asset, is to build it for the fans.", said Jamie Rootes, president of the Houston Texans.
Fans have come to expect massive screens with slow motion instant replay from multiple angles, scores, statistics and highlights from other games.
The new video system has it all. The video display was a big selling point during the Superbowl bid presentation. The NFL is big in playing in stadiums with the latest and greatest technology. The new display board gives the Texans and Reliant and advantage they've never had before.
"It's not just football. That scoreboard is going to be used for all kinds of events and I just think it gives us a leg up on attracting events and that's a good thing.", said Harris County Judge Ed Emmett.
