HOUSTON -

Now that he's healthy after surgery, the Texans have signed linebacker Brian Cushing to a 6-year extension.

The deal is reportedly worth more than $55 million with $21 million guaranteed.

Cushing was in the last year of the deal he signed as a rookie in 2009.  The Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2009 had over 110 tackles in 2009 and 2011.

Cushing suffered a season-ending ACL tear last October on an illegal block by former Jets guard Matt Slauson.

The 26-year-old linebacker was scheduled to become a free agent after the season.

Now he's settled in Houston and getting ready to play his first regular season game in 11 months.
