Does The State Have Your Unclaimed Cash?

POSTED: 6:34 PM CDT October 15, 2003

The Texas Comptroller's Office has set up a Web site that allows people to search for unclaimed cash and valuables that the state has, but wants to return to the rightful owner.

Things such as forgotten bank accounts, safety deposit box items and unclaimed checks are all included on the list recently updated and released by Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn. The Web site allows users to search by name, business and/or city. It also includes a link to unclaimed property sites from other states, for those who may have recently moved to Texas.

There's also a number people can call for information: (800) 654-3463.
