Katie Vossler joined KSAT 12 in January of 2014 as a weather anchor and reporter.
A native Texan, Katie was born and raised in East Texas near Tyler. She attended Tyler Junior College, where she earned an associate's degree in Physics before transferring to the University of Oklahoma in Norman and completing her work to earn a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology.
After graduation, Katie returned to East Texas where she worked in Lufkin for two years as a weekend meteorologist. She then moved back to the heart of Tornado Alley, accepting a meteorologist position in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While in Tulsa, Katie was the primary storm chaser for her station. She says one of the most exciting moments was watching a tornado touch down near Ponca City, live from the cockpit of the station helicopter.
Katie reported in all kinds of weather while in Oklahoma, including the ice storm of 2007, when she won an EMMY for her coverage, despite the fact that her own home was without power for a week! Katie also earned the title of "Certified Broadcast Meteorologist" from the American Meteorological Society and was the first meteorologist in Oklahoma to earn that honor.
After more than five years, Katie returned home to East Texas where she worked in Tyler for another four years. While there, she was voted "Best Weather Forecast" two years in a row by the readers of BScene Magazine. Katie was also honored with the title of one of Tyler's "Most Loved Television Personalities."
In her free time, Katie loves to spend time with her husband and their furry babies. She has two dogs, Primrose and Ranger and a cat named Chloe.
