Matt Rivers joined KSAT in July 2011.

Matt is KSAT 12 News only video-journalist, which means he shoots, writes and edits most of his stories.

Matt says his favorite stories are those that make an impact on the audience, specifically within the areas of crime, law enforcement and the military.

Since coming to KSAT, Matt has covered a wide range of topics, including the drug trade in South Texas and medical advancements for injured soldiers at San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Matt started his career in El Paso in July 2010, where he worked for the NBC/CBS duopoloy as a video-journalist.

Matt extensively covered the Mexican drug war in Juarez and covered President Obama during his two visits to the area.

Matt graduated from Syracuse University in 2010 with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish.

During his time there, he interned with 60 Minutes in New York City and WBNG-TV in Binghamton, N.Y.

Matt is a native of New Jersey, where he grew up about 30 miles west of New York City. He is an avid sports fan, and roots for the Syracuse Orangemen basketball team, the New York Yankees, Giants, Knicks and Devils.
