Driver sought in East Side crash that killed cyclist

Victim identified as Santiago Castillo, 61

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are seeking information on a driver who hit and killed a man on a bicycle on the city's East Side.

The crashed happened Monday minutes before midnight, near the intersection of Denver Boulevard and South Pine street.

Police said neighbors reported hearing the crash but no one saw it.

Officials believe the driver was in a dark-colored sport utility vehicle when he or she hit the cyclist and kept driving.

The cyclist, identified as Santiago Castillo, 61, was rushed to a hospital, but died about a half hour later. 

Anyone with information on the crash or the driver is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-STOP (7867).
