SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have a suspected car thief in custody after they said he lead them on a short chase Sunday afternoon.

A couple at the scene told KSAT they were getting ready for breakfast when they saw someone getting into their car through the window.

Police said they found out about the theft when a car pulled up to an officer on his way to another call. Someone inside the vehicle told him their car had just been stolen and pointed it out.

The officer began following the stolen car before its driver took off.

The chase began around Blanco Road and Loop 410, police said. The chase made its way through Castle Hills and ended in the crash at Rexford Drive and Jones Maltsberger Road.

Police said no one was seriously hurt.
