Driver crashes into utility pole, knocks down power lines

Intersection closed briefly overnight

SAN ANTONIO – A driver crashed into a utility pole, knocking down power lines on the city's Northeast Side, San Antonio police said.

The crash happened just before 1 a.m. near Thousand Oaks and Nacogdoches Road. 

Police said the driver jumped the curb and struck the pole, taking it out of the ground. 

Authorities had to close the intersection overnight while crews cleared the power lines. The roads have since reopened.

The driver refused a sobriety test, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
