SAN ANTONIO – A car crashed into an 18-wheeler spilling fuel onto the roadway overnight, San Antonio police said Wednesday.
The accident occurred around 11:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 5700 block of Rittiman Road.
Police said a man driving a white sedan accidently drove into the 18-wheeler carrying fuel when he attempted to cross all the eastbound lanes.
The driver hit the side of the tank, spilling 70 gallons worth of diesel fuel, police said.
The driver of the sedan was taken to University Hospital.
Officials said the cleanup effort was likely to take several hours.
