Late-night crash damages 4 South Side homes

Driver believed to have suffered seizure

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police believe a driver may have had a seizure behind the wheel, causing him to lose control of his car and slam into four homes on the city's South Side.

Officers called to the scene in the 300 block of Fair Avenue, said the 57-year-old driver told them he blacked out and didn't remember what happened.

Four homes though were left with visible damage after the crash, which happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said the out of control car took out the porches on those homes as well as some nearby bushes and a telephone pole.

The fire department used wood to help to shore up some of the damaged areas.

The man who was behind the wheel was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation. Police said he did not appear to be drunk.
