Head-on collision sends 3 to hospital

Accident occurred around 11 p.m. on Weidner Road

SAN ANTONIO – Three people are in the hospital following a head-on collision on the city's Northeast Side, San Antonio police said Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 11 p.m. Monday on North Weidner Road and Mabelle Drive, not far from Windcrest City Park and Randolph Boulevard.

Police said the compact car was traveling southbound when the driver crossed the yellow line and hit a small sport utility vehicle heading in the other direction.

The two people inside the car at the time of the collision had to be cut out and were taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

The driver of the SUV was transported to University Hospital as well.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
