BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A 22-year-old man is in critical condition following a rollover crash on the city's East Side, Bexar County deputies said Friday.
The accident was reported just before 3 a.m. on Interstate 10 near FM-1516.
Deputies said the man was traveling eastbound when he fell asleep at the wheel and drove into a cable wire guard.
The pickup truck flipped over deputies said, and the man was then ejected from the vehicle.
The man had to be airlifted to San Antonio Military Medical Center with severe head injuries.
Interstate 10 was closed for a time as crews worked at the scene. The road has since reopened.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
