Pedestrian fatally struck by car on South Side

Man was attempting to cross Roosevelt Avenue, no charges filed

SAN ANTONIO – A man was killed in a traffic accident late Tuesday night on the South Side, San Antonio police said.

The victim was struck by the driver of a Hyundai Accent in the 10000 block of Roosevelt Avenue as he was attempting to cross the street.

Police said the victim went through the windshield and landed in the front seat of the vehicle.

The driver and a child in the car suffered minor cuts and were treated at the scene.

The victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center and pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the victim was not in a crosswalk and driver was unable to avoid him.

The driver was not intoxicated and remained at the crash scene to render aid.  

The name of the victim has not been released.
