SAN ANTONIO – A 17-year-old girl is in critical condition following a hit and run accident overnight, San Antonio police said Thursday.
The accident occurred just after 11:30 p.m. on North Zarzamora and West Poplar Street, on the city's West Side.
Police said an officer was trailing a truck on Interstate 10 believed to have been stolen when the truck exited Colorado Street before hitting the teen's small sport utility vehicle on North Zarzamora.
The truck drove away from the crash site and that's when the Eagle helicopter was called in to assist.
Officers however eventually lost sight of the vehicle on the city's South Side when the vehicle went under a highway.
The girl was taken to the hospital by EMS in critical condition.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
