SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Department of Transportation wants San Antonio drivers to be aware of a major highway closure this weekend on Interstate 35 near the San Antonio Military Medical Center.
The closure is being done to set bridge support beams to add width to I-35 over Salado Creek. The project should be completed early next year, TxDOT said.

Saturday
TxDOT said the main lanes of I-35 northbound will be closed between AT&T Center Parkway and Binz-Engleman Road. The closure is expected to last from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
While the roadway is shut down, northbound traffic will be forced to exit at AT&T Center Parkway, follow the frontage road through Binz-Engleman Road and re-enter I-35 after George Beach Avenue.

Sunday
TxDOT said the southbound lanes of I-35 will close Sunday in the same location as Saturday's closure and during the same time frame -- 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic will be forced to exit at George Beach Avenue and will re-enter I-35 before AT&T Center Parkway.
In addition to the southbound closure, TxDOT said it will also shut down the connector ramps from northbound Loop 410 to southbound I-35 on Sunday. TxDOT said this is being done to keep traffic off the closed portion of I-35.
While the connector is closed, traffic will exit at FM 78, turn left at Binz-Engleman and continue on the southbound I-35 frontage road.
