Train crashes into SUV stuck on tracks, driver unhurt

Incident occurred around 11 p.m. Monday on city's North Side

SAN ANTONIO – A train crashed into a sport utility vehicle stuck on tracks on the city's North Side overnight, San Antonio police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Conway Drive and Empire Street, not far far from Highway 281 and Broadway Street.

According to police, the driver was driving through a grassy median and onto the railroad tracks when the vehicle got stuck. That's when, police say, the train heading southbound hit the SUV.

The driver of the SUV managed to get out of the vehicle and was not hurt, police say.
