SAN ANTONIO -- As a new crop of hurricane evacuees move into shelters in San Antonio, the call is out for more volunteers.
American Red Cross officials said Friday that they need hundreds of volunteers to help with a variety of tasks at various shelters across the city.
"We'll ask you to do what matches your skills and your ability," said Kami Watson, of the American Red Cross.
Watson said anyone interested in volunteering needs to sign up at the New Frontier Building at Freeman Coliseum. The volunteer center is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
No telephone calls are being accepted.
Watson said some volunteers will be asked to work immediately, while others will be given schedules.
Work shifts generally last six to eight hours.
