Chilly, rainy days ahead

Storm system arrives Friday; rain chances through Monday

SAN ANTONIO – KSAT 12 meteorologist Mike Osterhage says to expect mild temperatures this morning as they basically stay steady all weekend in the low 50s.

Showers will develop today with some being heavy overnight, Osterhage said. The rain will stick around through Monday morning.

A big trough of low pressure, in the upper-levels of the atmosphere, is now beginning to dig into southern California and will move into northern Mexico by Friday afternoon.

This will move plenty of Pacific moisture overhead and create mostly cloudy to overcast skies by Friday evening. Light rain and drizzle will form as an overrunning pattern takes hold of Texas through the weekend.

At this point, most of the rainfall looks to occur on Saturday and then begin taper off slightly on Sunday. We are not expecting severe weather, but the rain could fluctuate from drizzle to pockets of moderate showers throughout the day Saturday.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon this weekend will be cold, wet and dreary. Those participating in the event may want to bundle up to keep as warm as possible and take precautions to manage the rain. Temperatures will not fluctuate much in the middle to lower 50s on both Saturday and Sunday.

The trough will move to the northeast and weaken on Monday, so a few showers will still linger early in the day. As it passes, skies will clear and sunshine will begin to break through.

If you want warmer weather, next Tuesday will be your day to enjoy because a strong cold front will move through on Wednesday afternoon. Behind the front temperatures will drop into the 30s in San Antonio.
