SAN ANTONIO – The National Weather Service issued several watches and warnings Tuesday as storms and heavy rain pounded the San Antonio area.
Bandera Independent School District will have a 2-hour delayed start for classes on Wednesday. School will begin on all campuses at 10 a.m.

The heavy rains began falling in the Texas Hill Country around lunchtime.
As the storms continued to march eastward they gained intensity.
Numerous flash flood warnings were issued, as the storms dropped, on averge, 1-3 inches of rain across water-logged South Texas.
In San Antonio, approximately 8,000 CPS customers lost electricity and common low water areas flooded for a short time.
In Bulverde, the police shared a photo of a high water rescue at Highway's 46 and 281. An area prone to flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch until Thursday morning for Bandera; Bastrop; Bexar; Blanco; Caldwell; Comal; De Witt; Dimmit; Edwards; Fayette; Frio; Gillespie; Gonzales; Guadalupe; Hays; Karnes; Kendall; Kerr; Kinney; Lavaca; Maverick; Medina; Real; Uvalde; Val Verde; Wilson and Zavala counties.
Widespread rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches are expected, with some locations reaching as much as 10 inches. Very saturated ground will further enhance the possibility for flash flooding and increase the likelihood of rapid flooding.
Rivers and creeks are swollen and any additional rainfall will worsen the conditions. The ground is extremely saturated and any additional rains will likely result in rapid run off and accumulation of flood waters.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, which is a very dangerous situation. Residents are urged to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
