Operations at World Trade Bridge suspended for several days

Power outages, flooding cited for suspension of bridge usage

LAREDO, Texas – Cargo operations will be temporarily suspended at World Trade Bridge effective Monday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

The bridge, used for trade operations between Mexico and the U.S., will be closed for several days.

The suspension is due to power outages, flooding and structural damage from heavy rains and high winds Sunday.

Officials said commercial traffic will be rerouted to the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge.

The CBP said it and Servicio de Administración Tributaria will work collaboratively to prioritize fast, perishable and medical-related shipments as truck lanes become operational at WTB.
