The group is scheduled to perform on Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Frost Bank Center, according to a news release.

The announcement follows the group’s latest single, “Mono (featuring skaiwater),” its first new release in eight months.

Promoters said i-dle has a new project anticipated to be released sometime in May.

The tour is being framed as a broader creative reinvention paired with an expanded live production.

General tickets will go on sale at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 through the Frost Bank Center’s website and Ticketmaster.

The free, family-friendly festival is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and run through 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 at the San Antonio Central Library and UT San Antonio Southwest Campus downtown.

The day will include author talks, panel discussions, book sales, book signings, children’s and teen activities and food trucks.

Headline authors include Julia Alvarez, George Saunders, Jeff Hiller, Megha Majumdar and cookbook creator Arnie “ArnieTex” Segovia, along with a large slate of poets, historians, children’s and young adult writers and additional authors from across the state.

A first-time ticketed kickoff event is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, at Central Christian Church.

The event features Jenna Bush Hager highlighting her Thousand Voices imprint and its latest title, “Liar’s Dice,” by debut author Juliet Faithfull. Tickets include a signed copy of the book.

The festival also plans expanded programming for kids and teens — including picture books, middle-grade series favorites, graphic novels and young adult (YA) titles — as well as performances, character appearances and activities in the children’s area.

The full author list and schedule will be posted in mid-March at sabookfestival.org, where readers can also find details on tickets for the April 9 event.

The mission of the San Antonio Book Festival (SABF) is to unite readers and writers in a celebration of ideas, books, libraries and literary culture.

SABF was first presented in April 2013. Founding partners include the San Antonio Public Library, UT San Antonio Southwest Campus, the San Antonio Public Library Foundation and Texas Book Festival.

This “fiesta for the mind,” a gift to San Antonio visitors and citizens, is free and open to all.

The two-night, ticketed festival will take place on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24, the release stated.

The festival is set to transform Hemisfair into a music-and-food destination with two stages, a curated market, art and immersive activations.

Organizers said proceeds will support stewardship of the downtown public space.

The first night features Men Without Hats, Bow Wow Wow, Tommy Tutone and Animotion alongside hometown acts including Girl in a Coma, Surfbort and original La Semana Alegre performer Joe King Carrasco.

The second night will mix indie, electronic and Latin-influenced acts, with Ghostland Observatory headlining. Other performers include 54 Ultra, Los Retros, La Santa Cecilia, Son Rompe Pera, Chavela and Pop Pistol.

Food options range from Fiesta classics such as chicken-on-a-stick and gorditas to sweets and local favorites.

Modelo is listed as the festival’s official beer; aguas frescas, cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks will also be available. The La Semana Alegre Market features local artisans, vintage goods and music-focused vendors.

Tickets are now on sale at the festival’s website.

While admission to The Alamo is free, guests must reserve a free ticket online in advance.

The 18th-century mission, with its nearly 2-foot-thick limestone walls, is what most people recognize. Inside, the atmosphere remains quiet and solemn, despite the hundreds of visitors who pass through daily.

Entry into the Long Barrack, the oldest surviving building on the site, and the surrounding gardens is also free.

Visitors can also view the largest cannon on the grounds for free, located outside by the Alamo Exhibit building, not far from the back of the site.

However, those who want to explore the artifacts on the grounds at the Alamo Exhibit and the Ralston Family Collections Center will need to purchase a ticket.

Admission is $14 for adults and $10 for children. Keep in mind that there are discounts for military personnel, seniors, and children.

Also at the Alamo Exhibit is the iconic red bicycle featured in the 1985 film “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.”

Guests can purchase bottled water or soda at the gift shop for $3.75. For those looking to splurge, an Alamo plush toy sells for $25.

Before leaving, visitors can also explore the new outdoor exhibits on Alamo Plaza, which are free to the public.

It’s also free to watch the daily musket firing demonstrations on Plaza de Valero. They take place at 11:30 a.m. most of the year, but at 10:30 a.m. in the summer.

Parking is available at nearby city-operated lots, including locations on Houston and Martinez streets, typically costing about $8 for two to three hours.

Second Chance Thrift Store, located at 8336 Marbach Road, sends all of its proceeds directly to San Antonio Pets Alive!, which works to save animals at risk of being euthanized at area shelters.

“There is really something for everybody. That has always been my goal,” said Bob Citrullo, executive director for San Antonio Pets Alive!. “The big reason for doing this is to save lives, but it’s also fun. People love to come in and look for those deals.”

Citrullo says the nonprofit has already been under added pressure this year.

“We’ve had a very warm winter, a tremendous kitten season,” he said. “When I say tremendous kitten season, I mean the amount of bottle babies, kittens being born … it’s a little early for that, but we’ve already had our first litters come in.”

To help meet that need, the store has been collecting donations for months and is stocked with furniture, home décor and household items. Citrullo said the goal is to appeal to both treasure hunters and families trying to stretch their budgets.

“There are many hidden gems, as we say, within the store,” he said. “People come out, and it’s a lot of fun. And then there are people who are really looking for that value, who need to save and pinch every dollar.”

The store will continue to accept donations and offer pick up for those who need assistance dropping off items.

“Every dollar made in the store, like our sign says, saves a life,” Citrullo said.

Second Chance Thrift Store will have its grand opening Thursday, Feb. 26, at noon. It is expected to be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is still going strong with 100 FREE things to do on the fairgrounds.

Our crews at KSAT stopped by the rodeo to check out a few of those free things, and they started with a rodeo selfie.

Snap the Perfect Rodeo Selfie

You don’t want to miss a photo-op with the iconic “Let’s Rodeo” sign.

Conveniently located at the entrance, it’s the perfect backdrop for selfies, family pictures and group shots to mark the occasion.

When the KSAT crew stopped by, they got a picture with Cavvietta Cowgirl Snow Lopez, who shared some of her favorite free attractions on the grounds.

“Some of the hotspots that I’ve liked so far is the pig races. I’ve never seen a pig race before, so seeing that was pretty cool. The petting zoo. I have a funny farm back home, so I’m missing my animals,” Lopez said.

Animal Encounters - No Extra Charge

The petting zoo is free, giving you the chance to get up close with friendly farm animals.

And if you want to get up close and personal with more animals, visitors can gently hold baby chicks just steps away at “Animal Adventures.”

“You put your hand out like this, and you want his feet to sit on top. It’s gentle. It’s just like cupping it,” one handler explained as guests carefully held the tiny birds.

And yes, the baby goats are ready for their close-up too.

Thinking about upgrading your vehicle? Stop by the Ford display to browse the latest models. It’s free to look, just don’t plan on driving off the lot.

A Sweet Adventure

One of the most colorful stops is the rodeo’s free mini candy maze. Families can walk through at no cost, weaving their way through shelves of sugary treats.

Just one thing to remember: while entry into the maze is free, the candy is not. Guests can collect their favorites in a basket and pay at checkout.

Free Live Music

Not far from the candy maze, you can catch free live music performances that keep the energy high across the grounds.

“Whether this is your first rodeo or you grew up in agriculture, we have something for everyone, and it’s affordable. So that makes it even better,” Lopez said.

Mechanical Bull Rides

Feeling brave? You can even hop on the mechanical bull in the courtyard.
