Detective Robert Dart of the San Antonio Police Department has been providing traffic reports on KSAT 12 since November 2006.
Robert attended high school in Corpus Christi and moved to San Antonio in 1991 to attend college. In 1994, he graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Prior to becoming a police officer, Robert was a radio disc jockey, music director and morning show producer at KZEP and Y-100 with the Winston and Alyce Morning Show.
Robert left radio to become a police officer and took his oath as a member of the San Antonio Police Department in September 2001 just as America entered a new era of policing and police tactics following the 9/11 attacks.
During his tenure at SAPD, Robert has worked patrol on the city's East Side and was transferred to the Family Violence Crisis Response Team, which works closely with victims and suspects of family violence.
Robert says his job as a police officer is very rewarding, whether it is helping a citizen in need or putting criminals behind bars. He adds that he is proud to serve the citizens of San Antonio.
Robert says working at KSAT 12 has allowed him to merge his two passions: broadcasting and police work. In many ways, Robert feels that reporting traffic on TV was created just for him and he likes working with the "Good Morning San Antonio" anchor team.
Robert enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys classic rock. Robert says he has a large music collection enjoys listening to "great tunes" while seeking the world’s best-tasting cheeseburger.
