Van Darden has more than a decade of professional experience as a journalist, editor and writer.

During his tenure as managing editor at KSAT 12 News in San Antonio, he organized digital coverage plans for such high-profile stories as the First Baptist Church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas; Hurricane Harvey; the 2016 Presidential election and multiple San Antonio Spurs championship runs.

He is also provides voiceover work for KSAT's weekly on-air segment, Friday Freebies: https://www.ksat.com/lifestyle/friday-freebies

Prior to his role as managing editor, he served as digital content editor at KSAT and was a reporter at the Waco Tribune-Herald in Waco, Texas.

He is a 2007 graduate of Baylor University and was awarded the Baylor University Journalism, Public Relations and New Media Outsanding Young Alum award in 2016. 

He is a lifelong fan of music and has played drums in numerous heavy metal and country and western bands.
