SAN ANTONIO – Thousands of people enjoyed a free meal at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center Saturday.
Now its eighth year, the event was part of H-E-B’s annual Feast of Sharing.
Across the state HEB will put on the event in 23 different cities.
According to grocer, just one Feast of Sharing event equals:
- 3,000 pounds of sliced turkey
- 2,500 pounds of cornbread dressing
- 750 pumpkin pies
- 380 gallons of mashed potatoes
- 140 gallons of turkey gravy
- 95 gallons of cranberry sauce
“The folks out here are absolutely phenomenal; (they) are hard workers. These folks are out here on their own time,” said Tom Maxwell, a volunteer.
