Thousands attend annual Siclovia event downtown

SAN ANTONIO – 65,000 people hit the open streets Sunday to exercise and play during the 10th Siclovia event downtown.

This year's 3.5-mile route was the longest to date.

The event started at Maverick Park, wound through Cesar Chavez and South Saint Mary's Street and ended at Roosevelt Park.

The YMCA said the longer hours and route helped draw out more people.

KSAT 12 caught up with one woman who had never participated in Siclovia. She said she was excited to spend the day with her family.

"You get to have a great exercise," Ruby Dabila said. "It's early in the morning, it's downtown, it's beautiful weather and everyone is here enjoying and riding their bikes."

Siclovia is a biannual event that is free and open to the public. The next Siclovia will be Sept. 25, 2016.
