The kickoff takes place at Pearsall Park Saturday with the Fit Pass Dash 5K at 8 a.m., and additional activities happening through 11 a.m. There will also be free Fitness in the Park classes, along with health and wellness vendors, health screenings and prize giveaways.

Hundreds of activities will be offered to residents throughout the course of the program. Those participating will receive passports at the event to begin earning and tracking their points, which can be done via the SA Park Fitness mobile app (iOS users can download here. Android users can download here). An unlimited amount of points can be earned by participating in activities that include fitness, volunteering and nutrition to earn prizes.

City officials recommended carpooling Saturday, as the event is expected to have a high volume of traffic. Free shuttling from Alan Shepard Middle School at 5558 Roy Ellison Dr. will be available from 7-11:30 a.m.
