The new events include mural unveilings at the Nolan Street underpass and along Cherry Street, artist open studios and open houses and hands-on workshops in ceramics, martial arts, African drumming and other skills.

"From videographers to poets to dancers to choreographers to filmmakers, there's going to be something for absolutely everyone," said Sarah Fisch, media manager of Luminaria.

Luminaria 2016 audiences will encounter the beauty of Ballet San Antonio as well as the cutting-edge modern choreography of Monterey-based experimental dance troupe Cuerpo Etéreo.

World music band and Luminaria audience favorite Rattletree returns, while Mexican Step Grandfather brings his edgy, critically-acclaimed DJ/hip-hop set to new ears.

Holographic prints by award-winning documentary filmmaker Ray Santisteban salute the Zoot Suit era, and eight easel-mounted portraits by neorealist painter Kaldric Dow will honor women and men from San Antonio's historically black East Side.

The free festival will be held starting at 8 p.m. on Nov. 10 and Nov. 11.

Luminaria is nonprofit organization supported in part by the City of San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture, as well as corporate and private sponsors.
