Friday Freebies: July Fourth Edition

Free movies, museum visit, chicken sandwiches

SAN ANTONIO – If you're avoiding the heat and staying indoors over the July Fourth weekend, how about a little patriotic entertainment?

This weekend, you can get Stripes from FandangoNow free. Just log in and get a complimentary digital copy before midnight Monday. Parents, be aware the movie is not for the kids. The Bill Murray comedy is Rated R.

If you would rather watch a movie outdoors over the holiday weekend, head out to Vernon G. Schimel Park in Somerset. The annual Independence Day movie screening and fireworks extravaganza features "The Peanuts Movie." Other outdoor movie options this weekend include "Minions," "Ninja Turtles" and "Apollo 13." Check the Slab Cinema website or their Facebook page for details.

Another option for indoor entertainment this weekend is the Bank of America's "Museums on Us" program. On Saturday and Sunday, cardholders can visit the Witte Museum, the DoSeum, the San Antonio Museum of Art and the McNay Art Museum at no cost. If you're traveling this weekend, the program includes more than 150 participating museums in 33 states and 101 cities.

Once you recover from the July Fourth festivities, it's time to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day. On July 6, Kentucky Fried Chicken is giving away free Chicken Little Sandwiches all day long. Stop in or drive through at any San Antonio location.
