SAN ANTONIO - What started out as a love for vodka has grown into what is now Azar Family Brands.
Trey and Kimberley Azar are the creators of Cinco Vodka, located in southeast Bexar County.
“We really wanted to take Texas vodka to the next level,” Trey Azar said.
The award-winning vodka is European in style and is made using wheat. Cinco is also distilled in a unique copper pot. The still, nicknamed Betty, is the largest hand, hammered copper pot still in the state of Texas.
As Cinco Vodka has seen a 30 percent growth, the Azar family has turned to making gin.
Seersucker Southern Hospitality Gin is the first gin to be made in San Antonio.
“The Seersucker is reminiscent of southern hospitality,” Azar said. “We really wanted it to make the brand approachable and fun.”
With the addition of a new liquor, the facilities will be growing as well, with a 5,000-square-foot hospitality area in the works.
The facility, which will be open to the public, will include retail, a tasting bar and direct sales.
“There will be plenty of things to do out here and hang out,” Azar said.
The newer area is expected to be fully functional by early next year. In the meantime, the Azar family will continue to showcase their products. Both Cinco and Seersucker will be on display this week during the San Antonio Cocktail Conference.
