SAN ANTONIO - Friday Night Lights for Clemens and Steele high schools is more than just a football game.

The entire community gets involved and cheers on their teams from the stands.

The entire night is filled with joy and entertainment, including cheerleaders, dancers, bands, football players, volunteers, fans, coaches, teachers and so much more!

Texas is known for its tremendous talent with high school football and Steele and Clemens take rivalry to the next level.

"The kids say the school campus divides us but the district unites us," said Dr. Greg Gibson, superintendent of the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District. "There's always a lot of competition going on."

"I tell my coaches and I tell my kids, when you run through the tunnel, take a peek up and look at everything," said Jared Johnston, head coach and athletic coordinator at Clemens High School. "Enjoy the moment for a little bit and then let's go to work."

"If it wasn't for this football program, I probably wouldn't be where I am right now," said Quinton Mayberry, a senior defensive end at Clemens High School.

"It's a great thing to be a part of, and that's what we want our kids to feel," said Mike Barcenez, a football coach at Steele High School. "We want them to feel that culture, to have that pride."

"Friday night is a very special night for the Steele Knights," said Peter Sele, a offensive guard at Steele High School. "On Fridays everyone comes together and has fun just doing their thing. It's a nice atmosphere."

Congratulations to both Steele and Clemens high schools for being featured on Go Public Cool Schools for September!
