The district said Eads was one of 58 other candidates for the job.

Eads is currently the superintendent at San Marcos CISD. He has been with SMCISD since May 2011.

“I am looking forward to a new opportunity to become part of and work with the community staff and students of Southside. We will work together to overcome challenges as a team. I believe my background will allow SISD to rise to new heights. My history with south and central Texas districts has given me the tools to build and unite professionals, parents and above all the students. I want to thank the SISD trustees as we start a new journey for Southside ISD,” Eads said.

Eads is expected to begin his new job after a special board meeting on May 9.

The vote will follow the required 21-day vetting process.

Eads will take over the job previously held by Richard Vela who was put on administrative leave before parting ways with the district.
