2 Lee HS students arrested for taking gun to school, principal says

2 students say gun was shown to them, letter to parents says

SAN ANTONIO – Two Lee High School students were arrested Tuesday for taking a gun to school, school officials said.

In a letter sent to parents, Principal Nicole Franco said that two students reported to school administration that they had been shown a gun by two other students.

Minutes later, the two students accused of being in possession of the weapon were apprehended and arrested by North East Independent School District police, the letter said. The weapon was confiscated.

A NEISD spokeman said the weapon turned out to be an air soft rifle not a real gun.

"I am proud of our students for the immediate reporting and proud of the administration team and NEPD for their quick action that ensured all students and staff were safe," Franco said in the letter.

The two students arrested were freshmen, ages 15 and 16, NEISD spokeswoman Aubrey Chancellor said.

They were charged with making terroristic threats.
