Johnson HS student arrested for making terroristic threat, officials say

Student accused of making threat on Snapchat

SAN ANTONIO – A Johnson High School student was arrested Monday for making a terroristic threat on social media, North East Independent School District spokeswoman Aubrey Chancellor said.

According to a letter sent by Principal John Mehlbrech, the male student made the threat on Snapchat, an image messaging app.

"Upon receiving this message, we immediately initiated our safety protocol ensuring our students were safe and secure," Mehlbrech said in the letter.

The student, a freshman, was arrested upon arriving at school, Mehlbrech said.

"Because we take every threat seriously, we are currently following district guidelines on dealing with student threats," Mehlbrech said.
