Tuscany Heights Elementary School had a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday for a new lab.
The Social Emotional Learning Lab will be utilized by kindergarten students at the school in order to learn and work on gross motor and fine motor skills as well as the social and emotional skills needed to be successful in school and life.
Students will learn how to interact with other students and teachers in a productive and constructive manner.
"Our vision for this was to bring play back into kindergarten, to let kids come and play and learn how to be socially interactive with each other and to bring social and emotional play back into the classroom," said Kim Young, a teacher at Tuscany Heights Elementary School.
The lab was made possible by a grant from the North East Educational Foundation, a nonprofit charity working to expand educational opportunities.
