Prior to Carroll College, Evans served at St. Edwards University, having risen through the ranks in various roles, ultimately to associate vice president of professional education and global initiatives.

Evans holds both a Master of Arts in Asian studies and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in language arts from the School of Languages and Linguistics at Georgetown University.

" (I'm) so happy to be at the largest Catholic institution in Texas," Evans said. "It's a real thrill for me as a Texan to be back home. My faith is very important to me. So it's great to be back here. "

Evans replaced Lou Agnese, who was removed from office in August after he allegedly made racial remarks during a campus luncheon.

Evans and his wife, Lisa have two sons, Walter and Leland.
