SAN ANTONIO – They've had four dances, but that's as far as one of the remaining nine couples will go in this competition. So, straight up, now tell me – who's going home? See what I did there, Paula Abdul fans? Sadly, the results do not get top billing. The DWTS Troupe and some of the pros kicked off the show with a performance.

Here's where the couples stand:

  • Gilles & Peta – 39.5 points
  • Shawn & Derek – 39.5 points
  • Kelly & Val – 37.5 points
  • Melissa & Tony – 37 points
  • Emmitt & Cheryl – 36 points
  • Sabrina & Louis – 35.5 points
  • Apolo & Karina – 34.5 points
  • Bristol & Mark – 32 points
  • Kirstie & Maks – 30 points

The first four couples learn their fates. Hold on. There is seriously something going on between Kelly & Val. They're WAY too smoochy to just be dance partners. OK. I'm back on track. Shawn & Derek are safe. The other three couples have to wait through the commercial break to learn if they're safe or not. ARGH! After the break, Kelly & Val and Sabrina & Louis learned they're safe. Bristol & Mark are in jeopardy.

Carson Kressley returned to introduce a lovely time filler. He showed behind the scenes happenings. FF.

Next, the Macy's Stars of Dance (choreographed by Christopher Scott) performed to Christina Grimmie's "Titanium." This is worth looking up online. Pretty incredible dancing!

The next three couples learn their fates. Gilles & Peta and Emmitt & Cheryl are safe. Apolo & Karina are in jeopardy.

Cheryl performed with some of other dancers to a Tito Puente medley.

It's time for another round of cuts. Melissa & Tony are safe. Kirstie & Maks are in jeopardy. Kirstie got the giggles after she learned that.

Donnie Osmond (Season Nine DWTS champion) and Susan Boyle performed "This is the Moment." Huh? This seems like a random pairing. Didn't Susan once say she had a crush on Donnie? I'm Googling. Yep. Here it is. I'm kind of embarrassed that I actually knew that information.

The two highest scoring couples get to pick couples LIVE for next week's freestyle team dance. SPOILER: none of the couples want to be picked last. Gilles & Peta chose "Gangnam Style" for their song. Their team includes:

  • Kelly & Val
  • Kirstie & Maks
  • Emmitt & Cheryl

Shawn & Derek chose "Call Me Maybe" for their song. Their team includes:

  • Sabrina & Louis
  • Melissa & Tony
  • Apolo & Karina

Bristol & Mark weren't chosen. They'll take the place of the couple sent home – unless they're sent home, then they won't dance next week. Obviously.

Final elimination of the night time. Apolo & Karina are safe. Kirstie & Maks are safe. Bristol & Mark are going home.

Next week, the top eight couples will perform to their favorite guilty pleasure song and a second time with that team dance. It will be split over Monday and Tuesday – two one-hour shows. No couples will be eliminated next week.
