Thousands ready for 'Magic' at Battle of Flowers Parade

2014 Battle of Flowers Parade kicks off Friday just before noon

Thousands of Fiesta-goers will line up along Broadway Street Friday morning for the 2014 Battle of Flowers Parade.

This year's parade theme is "The Magic of Make Believe." The parade's grand marshal is community leader and philanthropist Bill Greehey.

The Battle of Flowers Parade is the oldest event and largest parade of Fiesta, attracting crowds of more than 350,000.

It is the only parade in the United States produced entirely by women, all of whom are volunteers.

The parade begins with a vanguard procession at 11:45 a.m. Friday and parade stepping off at 12:15 p.m.

The parade route goes along Broadway at Grayson streets through downtown San Antonio to Martin at Santa Rosa streets. (Click on this link for detailed map.)

The National Weather Service predicts a mostly cloudy day becoming sunny with a high near 90.

KSAT will air the Battle of Flowers parade live and coverage will run through 4 p.m. The parade will also be livestreamed on KSAT.com.

Due to KSAT's live parade coverage, General Hospital will not air at its regular time. It will be rebroadcast at 3:05 a.m. Saturday, April 26.
