Tobin Center gets $5 million donation

Donation by philanthropist Susan Moulton helps Tobin Center surpass goal

SAN ANTONIO – The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts has received a $5 million donation from philanthropist Susan Moulton.

The donation, which was announced during a news conference Tuesday, helped surpass the $54 million Tobin Center Capital Campaign by $4 million. The money raised during the campaign set a record for the largest amount of money raised for a cultural institution in San Antonio, Tobin Center for the Performing Arts Chairman J. Bruce Bugg said.

Bugg said the success of the campaign shows that the Tobin Center helps put the Alamo City on the map.

"It's going to be a major cultural icon for San Antonio," Bugg said.

The money will be used for the Tobin Center's endowment and for future maintenance and general expenses of the building, Bugg said.
