'The Bachelorette' Blog: Hometown dates highs, lows

Ex's, family drama rock latest episode

Well folks, things are getting spicy on "The Bachelorette."

This week was all about the hometown dates, and the guys knew they had to put it all on the line.

This was especially true for Chase. The raw emotion of his parents' divorce seemed to haunt him, leaving a bad taste in his mouth. Despite their rocky past, I was glad everyone came together for the sake of love. At the end of the night, Chase admitted he was falling for JoJo. Oh, Chase. What can I say about this handsome fellow. He and JoJo had an electric start and then it turned into a slow burn.

Honestly, it practically sizzled out. I think he could have been a frontrunner if he just given it a little more effort.

I had to take a moment for an "Oh Geez" sigh during JoJo's hometown date with Jordan. Everything seemed so cliqued as he reminisced about high school and football and more football. They kissed and cuddled and kissed some more. Am I painting a cheesiest enough picture for you? This brings me to my biggest concern about Jordan. Is it all about the physical chemistry or is there a "real" connection?

Ok, let's move on.

Inevitably, the issue of older brother, NFL star Aaron Rodgers, was going to creep into their conversations since he wasn't part of the hometown date. But every time the topic came up, someone was quick to shut it down. I have to be honest, this was so weird. I can understand if they didn't want to dish about his absence from the family, but the whole situation was bizarre.

Robbie's hometown date can be summed up in one word -- drama. Basically, he had just broken up with his last girlfriend right before coming on the show. Even though he was quick to say the past was behind him, you could feel the red flags popping up everywhere. I couldn't help but cringe at the thought of the bombshells that were about to drop.

JoJo's time with his family got off to a great start and then the craziness hit the fan! Anger filled Robbie's eyes when his mom told him about some rumors that were buzzing around town. Long story short, his ex's roommate says he broke up with his ex-girlfriend to go on the show. He was quick to bring it up to JoJo, but she did not want to hear it. She was terrified at the thought it might be true and I can't blame her at all! There are so many weird parts to this story. First off, what is his ex's roommate doing airing his dirty laundry? He must have done something awful to make her mad enough to pull that stunt. Then there's the obvious, when did he really break up with his ex? And is he really over her? I mean REALLY over her? Stay tuned. You know this is about to get juicier!

Family and friends filled Luke's hometown date in the great state of Texas. As I think about their date, I can't help but smile. He is genuine. I love that Luke is a good 'ole boy who values the opinions of those he loves. But is their connection stronger than what she has with Jordan? I wish there was more I could say about their date, but the truth is he's just a good guy.

Oh man, I knew this rose ceremony was going to be brutal. Everyone's hearts were on the line. My jaw dropped when Luke pulled JoJo aside to tell her he loved her. But is it too little too late?

She fell apart at the thought of sending one of the guys home. But before she made her decision, we were left with a "To Be Continued." Seriously?! How can they leave us hanging like that?!

Next week is a two-night special. Things kick off Monday with the dramatic conclusion to the hometown dates. Then Tuesday night, one of my favorite episodes, "The Men Tell All."

Don't miss a minute of the drama starting Monday at 7 p.m. on KSAT 12.
