Cowgirls Live Forever Fashion Show raises money for scholarships

Organizers have raised $1.7 million since event first started

SAN ANTONIO – Rodeo season is more than just roping and wrangling in San Antonio. There’s also room for a little fashion and fringe. Models on Thursday walked the runway for a special cause.

The Cowgirls Live Forever Fashion Show and Luncheon helps raise money for scholarships give out to San Antonio students.

This year, organizers hit a milestone by raising more than $1.7 million since the event first started 12 years ago.

The CEO of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo said he’s proud of the women who started the event.

“To me, that's just wonderful, and it's just one more thing that diversifies what we're all about, and cowgirls live forever. And it takes a cowgirl to keep a cowboy straight,” said Keith Martin, CEO of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

This year’s cowgirl honoree was Carla Northington, a scholarship donor and lifelong horseback rider.
