SAN ANTONIO – Attention all comic book collectors: Saturday is Free Comic Book Day!

Comic book stores all over the country and Canada will be giving away comics.

WATCH: 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' set for huge opening this weekend (w/ trailer)

It’s a day that encourages literacy and creativity.

Some of the San Antonio stores participating include:

  • Alien Worlds on San Pedro
  • Gotham Newsstand on Fredericksburg Road
  • Basing Comics on Thousand Oaks
  • Dragon’s Lair at Fredericksburg and Medical
  • House of Cards and Collectibles on Huber
  • Collectors of the Universe in Converse
  • Heroes and Fantasies on Northwest Loop 410 and on Pat Booker Road in Universal City

Heroes and Fantasies is celebrating its 30th anniversary, so they’re hosting cosplayers and artists and green screens at both locations so you can take pictures with them.

Game Box will also be there with free video games to play and there will be food and door prizes.

Heroes and Fantasies even had Chris Stevens create an exclusive cover for the all-new “Guardians of the Galaxy No. 1” for the event. It’s not free, but it is half off.
